At PH Attorneys, the spirit of giving back extends far beyond the confines of the courtroom. With a commitment to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals and advocating for gender equality in the legal field, our experts are making meaningful contributions to the legal community. Here are some inspiring initiatives that showcase their dedication to mentorship, empowerment, education, and knowledge sharing.

Empowering Women in Law
In celebration of Women's Month, Senior Associate Millisanté De Wee led an insightful panel discussion, shedding light on the challenges and victories faced by women in the legal field. The session covered a range of critical objectives, including the importance of empowerment in the workplace, the value of women in professional settings, and the rights that women still lack in the economic system.

The panel discussion provided practical insights and valuable guidelines, fostering lively discussions with students. Together, they explored key goals aimed at reshaping the narrative for women in law. From understanding legal frameworks to promoting gender equality, these discussions served as a catalyst for positive change within the legal sphere.

Expertise in Family Law
Adding to the firm's commitment to education, Ilze Strydom, Director of our Family Law team, recently shared her expertise at the University of the Free State. Her guest lecture explored a practical approach to handling divorce cases, shedding light on various aspects of family law. From the High Court to the Children’s Court, Ilze's specialisation covers it all – divorce, parental rights, maintenance disputes, and more.

Bontleng Links and Chang-lin Dirks, also in the Family Law team, dedicated their time to mentoring and inspiring young legal minds at the SAWLA and FALAS Moot Court competition. Serving as judges, they provided invaluable feedback and guidance, setting a standard of excellence for future lawyers.

Their investment in the next generation is a testament to PH Attorneys' commitment to the growth and development of the legal community.

Courtroom etiquette and oral advocacy

Director Eldon Ward, from the Dispute Resolution Practice Group, shared his wealth of knowledge on 'Court Etiquette and Oral Advocacy' during a Moot Court Workshop at the UFS Faculty of Law. His insights provided students with a deeper understanding of courtroom proceedings and the art of persuasive advocacy.

Eldon's dedication to educating the next generation of legal professionals supports the firm's commitment to legal education and excellence.

Embracing technological advancements and Human Rights

The event, centered around the theme of 'Technology and Human Rights,' showcased the intersection of law, technology, and human rights issues.
