Sam Moleko

Sam Moleko is a Consultant in the Commercial Practice Group of PH Attorneys. With 10 years’ experience as a commercial practitioner, Sam is extremely well-versed in providing corporate, business and commercial services to public and private sector clients.

Already at university, Sam developed an interest in commercial law, serving as a tutorial lecturer and academic assistant in the Mercantile Department and gaining valuable experience in corporate law and international economic crime. In 2004 Sam attended and was elected as a member of the Secretariat at the Twenty Second International Symposium on Economic Crimes at Jesus College, Cambridge, and United Kingdom.

During his studies, Sam was also contracted to assist the Supreme Court of Appeal to compile a report to the Department of Justice regarding the breakdown of caseload and turnaround times of the Supreme Court of Appeal for the period 2002-2004. The results were collated in an article published in The South African Law Journal, Vol 124, (Part 1) 2007.

Sam formed part of the legal advisory team of PH Attorneys that has advised Provincial and National Departments on a number of Public Private Partnership projects, particularly in the health sector. In 2006, Sam was invited by Netcare Limited to attend an international study tour to the United Kingdom, together with representatives of Netcare, LifeHealthCare, National Treasury and various senior managers from National and Provincial Departments of Health, to investigate health PPP’s in the United Kingdom and the role these initiatives could play in the development of the South African healthcare market.

In addition to commercial services, Sam assists corporate entities with corporate governance and compliance services to management at both executive- and board levels. He has also gained a significant understanding of public sector law, procurement, BEE- and administrative law at both regional and provincial government level, often assisting clients with policy development, compliance and dispute resolution in these areas.

Due to his commercial involvement with clients, Sam has gained extensive experience in mining law and mining rights and related aspects, as well as in natural resources, specifically in the coal and diamond mining industries.

With his knowledge of trust law, Sam accepts nominations to act as independent trustee of specific discretionary trusts and providing estate planning and fiduciary services to clients. 

In his spare time Sam is an avid wine connoisseur, best combined with listening to good music.
