The Deceased Estate Administration Team understands the deeply emotional and challenging time that follows the passing of a loved one. Accordingly, the team approaches the administration and winding up of a deceased estate with compassion and efficiency to support and guide the family through this difficult time.
The administration of an estate however can be a complex process with many moving parts needing to be assimilated to accurately wrap-up the estate. This requires a team well versed in working with many different third parties, financial institutions, insurance agencies, the Master of the High Court, attorneys, auditors, and the South African Revenue Service to do so effectively and minimize the delays that inevitably flow from the administration process.
An estate may also include offshore assets, provide for testamentary trusts, require property transfers, creditor engagements and more, and the experience of our team enables accurate and compliant navigation of these complexities in execution of the wishes of the deceased.
In addition to administering the deceased estate, the team also provides advice and guidance to clients, prepares all documentation for submission to the Master of the High Court, prepares all agreements, resolutions and consents, and ensures correct and accurate tax reporting of the estate to the South African Revenue Service in accordance with the estate plan of the deceased.
The Deceased Estate Administration Team works closely with our other teams to assist with property transfers, tax advice, corporate structuring, dispute resolution and estate planning for the beneficiaries and heirs of the deceased.
