Juanita is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Practice Group at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, where she is involved in a broad range of commercial transactions and provides corporate, commercial, business and tax related services to clients.
Juanita obtained her BA (Law), LL.B. and LL.M (cum laude) degrees at the University of Stellenbosch, where she also worked as a Research Assistant in the Mercantile Law Department prior to being appointed to serve articles in the Commercial Practice Group at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys. During her university studies Juanita was involved in various community projects and societies and also acted as a Legal Advisor at the Stellenbosch Legal Aid Clinic, gaining valuable experience early in her career in working with clients.
During her articles at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, Juanita excelled and quickly became involved with complex commercial transactions, structuring, taxation and intellectual property matters as well as acting as researcher for the firm’s Knowledge Centre. Her natural talent and constant pursuit to offer innovative solutions to clients, also led her to establish a data protection team at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys who deals with all matters relating to data protection and compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Using her acquired skills and a solution-driven mind set, Juanita is determined to find commercially acceptable answers for her clients and actively strives to assist clients with all matters relating to compliance and creating tailormade solutions in order to ensure that their business runs optimally.
Juanita is an enthusiastic, driven attorney with proven experience in corporate and commercial law, focusing on data protection, corporate restructures and various company law matters. Her areas of expertise include data protection, corporate structuring and restructuring, tax, intellectual property and e-commerce. She is well versed in providing all-round corporate commercial legal services, which, combined with her business experience, drafting ability and research skills provides her with a good understanding of the modern corporate business environment and the needs of clients.
When not researching new legal developments, Juanita enjoys spending her free time with friends and family, often cooking up a storm. She also enjoys reading fantasy novels, doing Pilates and exploring the outdoors with her husband and their loving pooch.
