Lucian is a Director in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, where he specialises in providing a variety of litigation and dispute resolution services to clients in both the private and public sectors. He is also part of the management team of the Practice Group.
At university, Lucian excelled in his academics, achieving his LL.B degree summa cum laude. With his Master’s degree he also topped the class and received the award for best LL.M Student in International Economic Law.
Lucian has a profound respect for the rule of law and is passionate about helping people and has established the ability to, in his litigation practice, serve both. He commenced his legal career at Lovius Block Attorneys before he joined Phatshoane Henney Attorneys specialising in labour and litigation disputes. He is an admitted attorney and conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa.
Lucian specialises in commercial litigation, constitutional law and employment law disputes, advising public and private sector clients. He has a strong public sector focus in his practice involving public, commercial and administrative law, litigation and arbitration.
Lucian believes that responsiveness to the needs of his clients and an ethical approach to practising law is the secret to his success in the legal profession. He subscribes to the firm’s vision of setting the standard in service delivery and aims to represent his clients in a cost effective and efficient manner. Due to the complex nature of many of the disputes he is involved in, Lucian works closely with his colleagues in other departments to provide his clients with a one-stop service.
Lucian is a part time lecturer at the University of the Free State in the Mercantile Law and Labour Law Department. He is also lecturer for the Law Society of South Africa’s Legal Education and Training Development (LEAD) in Magistrates’ Court Practice, Constitutional Law and Ethics. His lecturing involvement allows him the opportunity to interact with and mentor young professionals embarking on their careers in law.
