Tata conducted his studies at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) where he completed his B. Com Law and LL.B Degrees, whilst also being actively involved in the mentorship of high school students seeking to gain entry into higher education institutions. The mentorship was a means to help break the barrier that students often feel during there transition from high school to university. 

He worked at the UJ Faculty of Law as a Student Assistant where regularly interacted and assisted students and staff. 

After participating in the firm’s vacation programme, he was appointed to conduct his articles in the labour division of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group where he excelled. 

Tata’s practice includes both private and public sector clients. Due to his diligence and dedication to his craft, he holds an incredible success rate. 

He has acted on behalf of clients such as the Central University of Technology, Free State (“CUT”); University of the Free State University (“UFS”); Centlec (SOC) Ltd; Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality; Bloemwater (SOC) Ltd; Maluti-A-Phofung Water (SOC) Ltd; and Setsoto Local Municipality. 

During the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ever-changing nature of the new normal, Tata was at the forefront and provided clients with much needed advice on how to sail through the storms of the pandemic.

Despite the day-to-day advice to clients on labour issues, Tata is often found appearing in internal disciplinary hearings, the CCMA, various Bargaining Councils, the High Court, Labour Court and the Labour Appeal Court as his main drive is to continuously strive to find long lasting solutions for his clients. 

Tata is a football enthusiast and enjoys music from various genres.
