Japie is a Senior Associate in the Litigation Practice Group at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, conducting general High Court litigation and specialising in commercial banking litigation.
Japie is passionate about life and approaches law in the same way, bringing tenacity and a ‘can-do’ approach to every task or challenge at hand. His specialisation in banking litigation requires that he be highly organised and up to date with the complex regulatory environments he must navigate on a daily basis in these matters.
Japie completed his B.Com (Law) and LL.B degrees at the University of the Free State, achieving exemplary results in his studies. During his articles, he also excelled as a litigant, finishing second overall in the national litigation competition of the Law Society of South Africa’s LEAD Law School programme.
Japie enjoys playing golf and motorcycling in his time away from work, ensuring that he maintains the necessary work-life balance needed to perform at the highest level in his work.
