Better governed corporates make for a better world for us to live in
13 January 2020,

I have always found fulfillment in understanding structure and why certain things are the way they are. Growing up, I knew rules and regulations existed to maintain order and had to be complied with, but being me, it always felt better to understand why these rules and regulations existed to begin with.
I explored this interest and curiosity through participating in debates whenever the opportunity arose. When the time to select a career arrived, I knew from the onset that I wanted to study law,as I viewed law as a unique position to better understand and interpret rules, policies and regulations and how they affected my community.
I am a director at Phatshoane Henney Attorney's Commercial Department. With the increased industry segmentation and specialisation in the field of law, I am placed in the fortunate position of dealing with a broad array of legal matters. Among my many exploits I provide advice on public law and regulatory practice, and specialise in procurement and government contracting aspects, as well as Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment.
The
alarming number of recently exposed corporate scandals
in both the South African and international markets has resulted in the expedited growth of the
need for shareholder accountability and transparency
entrenched by sound principles and measures of
sound corporate governance
. This enables me to provide corporate governance advice to stakeholders of both private and public entities, which advice may range from governance, disclosures, and transparency and accountability and procedural requirements.
I place great value in spirituality and as such, keep myself balanced through regular meditation. After a day filled with various challenges as well as exciting experiences, I relax by catching up on a variety of reality shows with a glass of wine and when time allows, I make it a point to tour the vast plains of our country alongside my husband.
It is vitally important that both individuals and businesses understand and have insight and have insight into the legal framework and regulatory policies which may affect their immediate community. Join me on this blog as I share my thoughts, experiences in practice, and views on legal matters. Hereby I hope to raise awareness, share knowledge - and simplify legal concepts.
