Phatshoane Henney Attorneys goes green by planting trees on Spring Day
02 September 2014

In support of Arbour Week, Phatshoane Henney Attorneys on Spring Day planted some much needed trees at the Bolokanang Child and Youth Care Centre near Maselspoort.
Bolokanang, which means “to take care of one another,” houses 30 Sotho-speaking children ranging between 3 and 15 years. In most cases the children have no parents.
The Bolokanang Child and Youth Care Centre aims to create a homely atmosphere for the children. Here they are clothed, receive balanced meals, have the opportunity to go to school, and receive counselling and therapeutic services. Most importantly, they have the chance to just be children and to grow up in a happy, homely environment.
To brighten up their outdoor playing environment with a touch of green and provide some much needed respite from the coming summer sun, candidate attorneys and staff of Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, together with a team

in to plant trees at the centre on Monday, 1 September.
Leopoldt Jansen van Vuuren, Candidate Attorney in the Commercial Department, remarked that it was wonderful to see the children’s excitement over the trees planted on their doorstep. “We enjoyed the hands-on experience of planting the trees, knowing that our efforts will allow the kids to have shade tomorrow.”
Douglas Henney, Director at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, added that ‘green’ initiatives like this is Phatshoane Henney Attorneys’ way of giving back to the community and environment. “Besides the firm’s policy of encouraging environmentally conscious processes in all of its day to day operations, the simple act of planting trees goes a long way towards ensuring our children grow up in a healthy environment and are able to enjoy the beauty of nature every day.”
