Makungu is a Candidate Legal Practitioner in our Dispute Resolution Practice Group who is passionate about simplifying the complexity of the law to best assist his clients.

Makungu obtained his LL.B degree from the University of the Free State and has attended the LSSA School for Legal Practice in Cape Town.

During his studies, Makungu was a director at the Chamber of Legal Students, an organisation that represented students in disciplinary hearings. He sharpened his trial advocacy skills at the School for Legal Practice, and now holds certificates in Trial Advocacy from both the National Prosecution Authority and The Black Lawyers Association. He also assisted to organise the Annual National Schools Moot Court Competition hosted by the Department of Basic Education in 2018 and 2019.

Makungu is technologically inclinded en particularly interested in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and legal digitisation. While there is a common misconception that lawyers do not need to be technologically savvy, he strongly believes that the technological advances dominating the last decade highlights the growing importance for lawyers to be technologically adept in order to remain relevant to their clients.
