Textures, marks and stains, collecting objects, colour pigmentation, colour marks and objects, technical marks, etc has always interested Petra.  They are all around us but we tend to overlook things due to technological progressions made in our society today.  She tells of how she started creating her own imaginative world of texture, marks, stains, organic marks and use of organic objects and technical marks. 

The aim in this etching is for the viewer to move closer, to be made aware of what they are looking at - textures, marks, organic marks and technical marks - allowing the viewer to form their own innovative, original and imaginative world, allowing the viewer to have free reign in creating what they want to use and allowing the viewer to experience a Pareidolia (which is patterns seen in random markings) and a terra incognita (which is a term used in cartography for regions that have not been mapped or documented) that are among the constant flow of marks and textures.
