This year 162 students at nine universities across South Africa received the much sought-after Phatshoane Henney Group honour medals which are awarded to the finest LL.B graduates at their respective tertiary institutions.

This brings the total of outstanding law graduates that have, since the Phatshoane Henney Group honour medal programme’s inception in 2011, received these honour medals to more than 730. Established as an initiative to reward exceptional performance by law graduates across South Africa, the Phatshoane Henney honour medal is the highest award given to law graduates that achieve their LL.B degree cum laude (with honour). 

This year Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth had 16 law graduates awarded with honour medals, while at North-West University in Potchefstroom 14 graduates were rewarded.

Four top law graduates at Rhodes University in Grahamstown received honour medals, with the University of Stellenbosch having three law graduates going home with this prestigious award.

Lucian Companie, director at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys in Bloemfontein, attended the prizegiving ceremony at the University of the Free State himself to award 19 excellent law graduates with their well-deserved medals. 

Charles Conidaris, associate at Wright Rose-Innes in Johannesburg and one of our Phatshoane Henney Group firms, himself awarded the Honour Medals to 11 of UJ’s best LL.B graduates at UJ’s Law Prestige Evening. 

Veronice O’Dwyer, director at Group firm Wiesinger O’Dwyer Inc, also awarded 32 medals to the top law graduates at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, while Grobler van der Merwe, director at Group firm Bezuidenhout Van Zyl & Associates Inc, handed over 52 honour medals to the most outstanding law graduates at the University of Pretoria.

Henno Nöthnagel, associate at Group firm Greyvensteins Inc, in turn also awarded honour medals to 11 first-rate LL.B graduates at the University of Western Cape.
