As part of the Genesis Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) Back to School shoes project, Phatshoane Henney Attorneys has ensured that 60 learners now own a much needed pair of new school shoes and socks for the year ahead.

Genesis ARK is an organisation established by charitable youth from Bloemfontein who aim to better the lives of others through acts of random kindness. The team has fully devoted themselves to uplifting communities through various outreach programmes and projects to grow the community and its individuals.

As the first in a series of projects that promotes education and skills development for the least advantaged, a total of 77 foundation phase children from the Mabeona Intermediate School on 16 January each received a pair of new school shoes and socks, of which Phatshoane Henney Attorneys donated 60 pairs. Many of the school’s learners are from disadvantaged backgrounds due to their parents being unemployed, and as a result the children don’t have proper school uniforms and educational resources.

“Through this donation we hope to empower foundation phase children with the necessary resources to ensure a uniform appearance with their peers and a sense of self worth from an early age,” said Kgosi Mocwagae, Chairperson of Genesis ARK Bloemfontein.

Lesley Mokgoro, Director at Phatshoane Henney Attorneys, remarked that “Phatshoane Henney Attorneys was only too happy to have helped these young children take their first steps towards a brighter future in a pair of new school shoes and socks. We thank ARK for involving us and enabling us to take part in their wonderful initiative.”
