The Income Tax Act
is one of the most intricate pieces of legislation we have. Sometimes I wonder if it is not written in a way that purposefully confuses the reader. Be that as it may, it is also of the most well-known statutes in South Africa. Most people know or have heard its terms. Sometimes it is even brought up in casual conversation. But it is so much more than just paying tax on the income you receive.
There are some hidden gems in the Income Tax Act that can be used for your benefit. There are also some taxes that you may not even know about.
In this series, I will break down common misconceptions about tax, discuss the different types of taxes and explain the rules. So join me in this series and learn the playground rules set forth in the Income Tax Act.
